Skills that reward a big night

The skill shop and the coaching market picked up a fresh batch of ways to earn — built around the players who show up when it matters most:

🔥 New skills for big-game players

A new class of skills pays off when a player has a monster game. String together a multi-hit night, go deep into a start, bury two goals, throw for 300 — clear the bar and that whole game's earnings get a boost. They're higher-variance than the steady "a little extra every game" skills: quiet nights pay nothing, but the big ones pay big. Look for them in your players' skill shop.

🎯 A coach who lives for the big moments

There's a new coach on the market who makes big games bigger — every standout performance from your roster earns extra on top. Slot this one in behind your stars and their ceiling nights start paying like it.

📋 Credit for just showing up

A new skill and a new coach reward availability itself: a small flat bonus every single game a player suits up, no big line required. Made for the dependable everyday types who quietly pile up appearances all season.

And keep an eye on the map this fall — a fourth town, Gridiron Hollow, is on its way for the NFL season, with the draft opening the week before kickoff. 🏈⚾🏒⚽

A new look up top, and a big tidy-up

Franchise Quest got a fresh coat of paint, plus a stack of quality-of-life fixes that make the day-to-day smoother:

🗺️ There's a map behind the wordmark

The header has a new backdrop — a faint, hand-drawn adventurer's map tucked behind the logo, compass rose and winding trail and all. It's purely for the atmosphere, and it shifts a little between phone and desktop, so look closely for the ✕ that marks the spot.

🔎 Free agents sort by value first

The Add Player list now leads with the best value for your money by default — the players most worth signing sit right at the top, instead of the list being ordered by raw season totals that bury a cheap, productive pickup.

🃏 Daily events, tidied up

We swept out the last few dead-end choices, stopped the shop from offering you the same thing twice, and kept "new signing" moments from popping up for players who've been on your roster for weeks. Fewer duds, more calls that actually matter.

🧹 Smaller fixes

A grab-bag of little things: towns closed for the offseason no longer nag you about expiring contracts, the Town Square stops bleeping harmless words like "damn" when you're talking trash, and Clutch Gene — long the weakest pick in the skill shop — got a retune so it finally earns its slot.

Take a look around — and mind the ✕ up top. 🧭⚾🏒⚽

Keep your stars happy

Your players and coaches now care how you treat them — and the fans are keeping score too. The biggest batch of changes in a while:

❤️ Players & staff have affinity now

Every player and coach has a happiness level — how much they like being on your team — shown right on your roster and staff. Keep someone happy and they re-sign cheaper; let them sour and their next contract gets pricier, until eventually they'd rather walk. Happiness slips a little every week, so you can't coast — look after the ones you want to keep.

🎯 You choose who to look after

Daily events now hand you the call: spend the off-day with the player you pick, settle a clubhouse feud by taking a side, or lavish one star with the spotlight while the rest of the room grumbles. You can't keep everyone happy — pick your core and tend it. You won't see the exact effect up front; you'll find out how they took it once the moment plays out.

⭐ Fan reputation

Each town now tracks how beloved your franchise is — a reputation that climbs as you finish near the top and make fan-pleasing calls, and that carries over from one season to the next. To feed it, weekly podium finishes now pay reputation instead of a cash bonus, so the teams already out front stop simply getting richer.

💵 Game earnings match what you watched

When a game finishes, its card now shows the full earnings you watched add up live — multipliers, hot-streak buffs, skills and staff all included — instead of a smaller base number.

Go check your roster — somebody might be due a little attention. 🧢⚾🏒⚽

Coaches cost a lot less

Staff were overpriced — you could end up paying far more for a coach than they ever earned you. We cut coach pay across the board:

🧑‍🏫 Lower weekly rates

Every coach's weekly rate came down — commons, uncommons, rares, and legendaries all got cheaper (a rare Offensive Coordinator dropped from $60/week to $25). Hiring and re-signing now costs much closer to what a coach actually delivers, so a coach who's pulling their weight is worth keeping instead of a money pit.

Check your Staff — that coach you were about to let walk might be a bargain now. 🧢

Two weeks of upgrades

A big stretch of updates. Here's what landed:

🏆 Seasons now run themselves

Towns open and close on their own schedule. When a season ends we crown a champion (ranked by trophies), archive every team's final roster, wipe the slate, and refresh the player pool for the new season — all automatic. Closed towns stay viewable read-only with a "Season complete" banner.

💬 Town Square comments

Comment on individual games and events right in the feed — including live threads on games still in progress. Replies post instantly, and the latest comment peeks in even when a thread is collapsed.

📺 Richer live game cards

Live cards now show the current score and inning, who's at the plate / on deck / pitching, and a running estimate of what each player is earning you this game (skills and staff bonuses included). When a game ends it rolls straight into a final card instead of disappearing.

🃏 A flashier daily recap

The recap got a Balatro-style makeover — your players stack as physical cards and reveal one at a time, saving the best for last. Your staff ride along as a "joker" row that ticks up as your boosted players score, and every card shows season earnings too.

🧑‍🏫 Coaches & Staff, leveled up

Coaches now sign contracts (with daily events to extend them), stack when they share an effect, and show exactly how much they've earned you this week and this season.

✨ Plus a lot of polish

Skill Points across coaches and events, a tighter and more readable activity feed, faster behind-the-scenes updates, and a pile of daily-event writing and balance fixes.

Thanks for playing — more soon. 🧢⚾🏒⚽
